COLLEGE DEGREE PROGRAMS

Hillsboro Aviation in conjunction with Portland Community College and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University - Portland Campus is proud to offer our students options to earn a two year Associates of Applied Science or a four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics, while also completing necessary flight training.

The first step of the program is completed through a combination of Portland Community College (PCC) and Hillsboro Aviation classes. When students enroll, they do so in the Aviation Science degree program at PCC. During this program, they will take normal academic courses such as math and science, aviation specific academic courses such as applied aerodynamics and economics of flight operations, and of course they will complete flight and ground training at one of the Hillsboro Aviation campuses.

Students receive college credit for flight and ground courses, which count towards, and are an integral part of, the completion of the Aviation Science degree. The Associates of Applied Science program takes 21 months to complete and the student will graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Aviation Science, their FAA Commercial pilot certificate and Instrument Rating with options for Flight Instructor certificates.

For students wishing to continue their collegiate education, they may transfer their F1 Visa and all of their college credits from PCC to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) - Portland Campus. PCC and ERAU's Portland Campus have an articulation agreement that guarantees admission to ERAU as long as the student has at least a 2.0 grade point average, and it guarantees that the college credits they received through Portland Community College will transfer to ERAU and count toward their Bachelor of Science degree.

During this bachelor degree program students take more advanced aviation academic classes such as aviation legislation, strategic management, and aviation safety. The ERAU portion of the program takes about 24 months for a total of about four years to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautics and also complete flight training.
